It’s 2016 and Incubus’ bold, eccentric, and tattooed lead vocalist, Brandon Boyd, approaches another milestone in his career as he launches a genderless jewelry line –all the while remaining shirtless, of course.
A true artist in his own right, the musician collaborated with New York-based designer, Ali Grace, and released a jewelry collection. While both are unaccustomed to collaborations, the two managed to organize a systematic exchange wherein, “Grace would mail him strips of wax, Boyd would etch designs in them with a pencil, then mail them back for consideration and casting,” according to Vogue.
Made up of fine pieces, the collection consists of sterling silver and brass rings, cuffs, and necklaces accented with exotic (and ethically mined) diamonds, crystal pendants from Chile, and sandalwood Mala beads inspired from Boyd’s practice of Transcendental Meditation. With unpretentious burly lines and gawky forms, Boyd uses his personal taste and proves that his band’s alternative funk metal sound is also a great influence for design.
