Cartier has chosen a grandiose venue to showcase their newest Juste un Clou and Ecrou de Cartier collections. The two trademarked collections will be part of an existing themed designed exhibition entitled “When the Ordinary Becomes Precious” at the Salone de Mobile in Milan, Italy.
Cartier will be setting up an eye-catching pop up installation at the Garage Sanremo, which is a landmark on the Via delle Fosse Ardeatine at the heart of historical Milano. The said installation will be highlighting the appropriation of everyday hardware elements in jewellery, just like the brand’s pieces in the said collections.
The “Precious Garage” exhibition was specially designed for Cartier by New York-based Puerto Rican visual artist Desi Santiago. The artist is known for his scenic performance work and installations shaped by socio-cultural references to the worlds of nightlife and fashion.
Santiago has designed sets for Carolina Herrera, Loewe, and Marc Jacobs. He has also designed Madonna’s iconic stage for her Madonna: MDNA World Tour.
The Salone de Mobile serves as the perfect canvas for Precious Garage by Cartier, as it will house a dialogue between mechanics and jewellery and crafts and design. Cartier grooms donning overalls will enchant and entertain guests as they bask in the grandeur of it all.
Some of the visual treats in the exhibit include a car suspended in air with a golden liquid oozing to the floor. Tools of the trade will be scattered as well in drawers laden with jewellery.
If you find yourself in the city during this time, Precious Garage by Cartier will be open to the public from 11am to 7pm on April 5-9, 2017 at the Garage Sanremo, Via delle Fosse Ardeatine Milan, Italy.
